Job:  Hospital Accountants Officer (Accountant)


Employee Status:  Full-time


Job Requirements

Must possess a Formal Qualification (Diploma or Bachelor's degree) in Accounting or equivalent professional qualifications with reasonable years of experience preferably in healthcare or financial environment.  


Profile of prospective Candidate:

Minimum 3 years financial/accounting progressive experience in a fast changing environment

·         Recent hospital Accounting experience would be an advantage

·         Must be proficient in written and verbal communication skills

·         Must be IT proficient; experience in using spreadsheet software would be an advantage

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff and community

·         Ability to maintain confidential information concerning personal, financial, or medical matters


Job Description

As a member of the Hospital's senior management team, the Hospital Accounts Officer will participate in the financial and functional decision-making processes necessary for the successful attainment of the hospital's mission in addition to maintaining an awareness of changes in healthcare matters that could have an impact on the success of the hospital. 


Key Responsibilities

·  Preparing financial papers for internal and external vendors

·  Writing monthly reports to determine whether the financial information generated are accurate

·  Performing account receivable duties

·  Assisting with preparing the hospital?s budget.


Other Responsibilities

·   Additional responsibilities include creating ledgers and financial analysis reports on selected hospital functions, ensuring that all transactions performed by the hospital are done accurately and efficiently, and preparing financial statements on a monthly basis.

·   Creation and reviewing of historical records and evaluating information obtained; providing historical comparisons and   financial forecasts for revenues and expenditures.

·   Contributing financial expertise in the planning of new services that generate additional sources of profitable revenue

·   Managing costs by continually seeking data that will identify opportunities and taking action to eliminate non-value costs in    conjunction with the hospital's senior management.

·   Performing other duties as required

The Hospital Accountant would report directly to hospital Manager.
